ICONIC COUNTRY SINGER,TRACY CHAPMAN SUES NICKI MINAJ FOR COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT

A song titled 'Sorry' featuring Nas which samples iconic country singer,Tracy Chapman's 'Baby Can I hold you' was slated to be on Nicki Minaj's 'Queen' album but Chapman held on to clearance.Nicki is said to have loved the song so much, she considered pushing back her album release just to try and reach an agreement with the singer. Some way some how,Funkmaster Flex got hold of the song and premiered it on his show.
This got Chapman really pissed and she had her lawyers file a lawsuit seeking damages and an injunction against Nicki from using any part of her music.
According to The Blast,Minaj has demanded the judge throw out Chapman's lawsuit against her. She claims she did nothing wrong and does not owe the singer any damages. The 'Chun Li' rapper is arguing fair use and also alleging on the other hand that Chapman doesn't own the original copyright to the sample.
